The Head and the Heart é uma banda de indie-folk-pop-rock baseada em Seattle, formada em 2009 por Josiah Johnson (vocals, guitar, percussion) e Jonathan Russell (vocals, guitar, percussion), a banda adicionou também Charity Rose Thielen (violin, vocals), Chris Zasche (bass), Kenny Hensley (piano) e Tyler Williams (drums). Lançaram seu primeiro auto-intitulado álbum ainda em 2010 de forma totalmente independente. Em janeiro de 2011 o foi relançado remasterizado em MP3 e agora, The Head and the Heart também é lançado em CD e vinil via Sub Pop Records. A primeira faixa liberada é “Lost in My Mind” e ainda o primeiro single, “Down in the Valley”.
